Gillette Prom

Hello family and friends!  I haven't posted anything in a looooooong time so I decided it might be time to get caught up on some of the happenings.  I am going to start with the most recent and work my way back because that's the only way I figure that's all I can do with my mommy brain - the memory is not always the best.  So......last night was Gillette's Prom.  Janika went with Tyler Klamm and had a fantastic time. His sister taught them a bunch of fun country swing dips and moves before prom and she spent the week perfecting them with every single member of the family!  Jaden is now getting to be a very good dancer himself because of all the forced practices with his sister :)
It was a COLD, rainy, windy Saturday night which eventually turned into snow.  Only in Wyoming, right?!  I was kind of bummed because I wanted to take a bunch of cute pictures outside, but it was miserable so I had resigned to taking boring inside pictures when Tyler informed me that he had an umbrella so we could take some outside!  Wahoo!

The corsage - Tyler's mom used to be a florist so she made them a matching flowers.  They were gorgeous!!!

This was her corsage - isn't it awesome!!!
She actually got brave and pinned his flowers on all by herself!!  My baby's growing up!
Tyler got to open his mission call on the same day as prom!  He got called to the Texas McAllen (sp) mission - Spanish speaking.  So excited for him!
Singin in the Rain-aren't they adorable!  Those cheesy grins are priceless!

So I can't resist showing you the project that this dress was.  I don't know if I should announce this to the general public, but we got this dress at the Salvation Army in Sheridan when we went for Austin's Special Olympics for $10 hoping that we could turn it into something that was a little more promworthy.   I had a ball messing around with it and modestifying it and it ended up one of only about 5 modest dresses at the prom and she looked beautiful (and rumor had it that Tyler REALLY liked it too)!  We would make adjustments and then do some swing moves and adjust again making sure she was able to do all the fun moves that she learned without showing what she didn't want to show.  It was really fun!  Here's what it looked like when we bought it:

...a pretty dress but somewhat lacking in bling and ....um...sleeves...

Despite my tomboyish ways I had a ball turning it into something princess worthy!
